Sample Inquiry Letter (For New Writer)

Dear Imajilan Pictures,

I am responding to an advertisement I saw at IMDB ( www.imdb.com ).

My script is a two time contest winner and I have written over a dozen screenplays in the last 8 years honing my skills to which several top consultants, including J.D. Willings, have now endorsed my writing talents as being professional level.

My script, KILL JACK HACK, can be done low budget or high budget--I have my friend, director Howard Deutch,  interested in attaching to it along with Jason Statham who has agreed to play the lead--he loved the script.

GENRE: Action-comedy

LOGLINE: An out of control contract killer must hunt down and eliminate the one man that can bring down the secret organization known as BANKER 1 that he works for--only he has targeted the wrong man--a man who used to kill contract killers for a living.

SYNOPSIS

Unassuming JACK HACK, a retired Navy Seal and CIA veteran, is on vacation in the Bahamas when suddenly... (tell you story in less than 1 page). 

(Also tell us a little about the genre-comedy elements) ...besides many twists and turns in the action making for great points of tension and comedy relief, we are also wow'd by the two main characters unique quirks--Jack for example, has a weakness for ladies in miniskirts and high heels and often forgets himself, even in the midst of battle. And our Hitman is a crack addict who just can't work without a fix or a crack pipe in his pocket, which is always getting broken and forcing him off the path in search for his next fix.

BIO & GOALS

I hold a BA in English and I am a graduate of the LA Film School along with several contest winning scripts to my name. I have also had one script optioned by Top Productions Company. I am looking to work as a fulltime writer in the entertainment industry and have been progressing my skills and experience toward that effect. I am open to any sort of deal that ensure my work gets produced so please let me know if you have any remote interests as I would be willing to work with you to make that happen.
